JERRIS “QUICK- THE- POET” EVANS

Never Give Up on the Rest of Your Life is the ethos that has lifted Jerris Evans from one of the most challenging periods in his life. South Florida’s spoken word pioneer, Jerris “Quick the Poet” Evans, defined a creative lane to live out his love for poetry. He is a self-described “off-the-porch” poet. Part of Evans’s poetic style is off-the-porch conversations. Who doesn’t like moving and candid convos? During our video interview, I was intrigued by Evans’s evanescence. His answers were a cross between animation and self-assuredness. He sometimes responded thoughtfully to my questions as if to relive certain moments in his life. His background was buzzing with the collective voices of his four daughters, equally vying for his attention. Evans wears many hats: his angled fedora that has become his signature ensemble, husband, father, educator, poet, event host, entrepreneur, and philanthropist
